El futuro de la música colaborativa: YouTube y Kutiman

Hace un par de días, me enteré de un proyecto interesantísimo de un músico Israelita llamado Ophir Kutiel, conocido artísticamente como “Kutiman“.
El proyecto, denominado “Thru-You“, combina de manera brillante, videos, y más importantemente, audio de videos de YouTube, para crear canciones que podrían ser tomadas como grabadas por un grupo musical. Pero en realidad no es un grupo; de hecho los músicos de esta banda virtual ni siquiera se conocen. Kutiman ha hecho (y estoy seguro que el trabajo es asistido por software de algún tipo) “samples” de clips que no tienen relación alguna, creando un album de “mashups”.
Si escuchas el álbum completo que está comprendido por siete temas, verás que tienen una temática común: el funk, el reggae y el rock se funden, como se funden los clips de los videos, creando una experiencia músical digna de ser impresa en CD’s y vendidas por un sello disquero.
Por supuesto que hay ya personas comenzando a imaginar cúales son la implicaciones legales en cuánto a derechos de autor y todo lo que sigue. Pero es algo que en este momento no me interesa; quiero seguir maravillado por esta música tan deliciosa que fue creada por un grupo que no existe en la vida real.
